Prepare For Your Exam
No preparation or appointment is necessary for x-rays of the chest, abdomen, spine or other bones.
You can walk into Madison Radiology for x-rays anytime Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Please call 626-793-8189 to schedule an appointment for MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography, bone mineral density (DXA), upper GI, and small bowel series.
New with us ? Ask your doctor’s office to fill out our Request Form and bring it with you to your appointment.

No advanced preparation is required.
All facial, tongue piercings and / or earrings must be removed for this exam.
If you have had this exam done at a different facility, please bring in the most recent prior exam on a CD and report for comparison.
Pick up oral contrast one day before scheduled appointment.
Bring referral slip when you pick up oral contrast.
Do not eat or drink within four (4) hours prior to your exam. However, you may take your medicine with a small amount of water (1/2 cup) if needed.
A blood test (BUN & Creatinine) may be required if you are receiving an I.V. contrast injection as part of your exam.
If you are diabetic, discontinue Metformin (Glucophage) for two (2) days after your exam.
You will NOT have to change your clothing if you wear clothing without any metal or plastic (zippers, belts, bras, buttons) covering your chest abdomen and pelvis.
If you have had this exam done at a different facility, please bring in the most recent prior exam on a CD and report for comparison.

Schedule your appointment for five (5) to fourteen (14) days after the start of your menstrual period. Wear a two-piece outfit on the day of your appointment.
Don’t wear lotion, powder, or deodorant on the breast and underarm areas.
Don’t eat or drink for eight (8) hours before your appointment.
Drink six (6), eight (8) ounce glasses of water, a total of forty-eight (48) ounces, finishing one hour before your appointment.
Don’t use the toilet after you start drinking the water.
